Summary

This PR adds comprehensive research and a detailed implementation plan to address the "crawled - currently not indexed" problem affecting the homepage and examples pages.

Problem Statement

Google has crawled all pages but is not indexing them. Based on 2026 SEO research, this is primarily caused by:

  • Thin content (pages with insufficient unique value)
  • Weak internal linking
  • Lack of structured elements (tables, FAQs)

Current State Analysis

  • Homepage: ~1,200 words (decent but needs enhancement)
  • Examples Gallery: ~250 words (critically thin)
  • Individual Example Pages: ~150 words each (very thin)

Solution Plan

The analysis document thin-content-analysis.md provides a complete 10-week implementation roadmap:

Phase 1: Examples Gallery (Week 1-2)

Expand from 250 to 1,200-1,500 words with:

  • Category descriptions (Simple Bilingual, Interlinear Glosses, RTL Scripts, Advanced)
  • Feature comparison table
  • FAQ section
  • Internal linking strategy

Phase 2: Individual Examples (Week 3-6)

Expand each from 150 to 600-800 words with:

  • "Understanding This Example" sections
  • Word alignment structure tables
  • Use cases and "Try It Yourself" guides
  • Lateral linking between related examples

Phase 3: Homepage Enhancement (Week 7)

Add comparison tables, use case matrices, and strengthen internal linking

Phase 4: Internal Linking Audit (Week 8)

Implement pillar-cluster architecture across all pages

Phases 5-6: Technical Validation & Indexing Requests (Week 9-10)

Submit to Google Search Console and monitor

Research Sources

Based on current (2026) SEO guidance from:

  • Google Search Console documentation
  • Digital Applied SEO research
  • IndexBolt, SEORevive, and other industry sources
  • 2026-specific thin content analysis

Expected Outcome

80%+ indexing success for important pages within 3-6 months after implementation.

Next Steps

This PR provides the research and plan. Implementation will follow in separate PRs for each phase:

  1. Examples gallery content enhancement
  2. Individual example pages expansion
  3. Homepage improvements
  4. Internal linking implementation
